Chris Procter, Principal Consultant, explains the benefits of ADAS’s renewable business, REsolved Renewables.
With the soaring price of electricity and the need to become more sustainable, landowners and farmers are increasingly looking at adopting renewable energy technologies, not only to reduce their personal carbon footprint but also to generate income for their business.
As the windiest country in Europe, the UK is ideally placed to generate a large percentage of our energy needs from the onshore wind sector. The industry offers huge opportunities for landowners, but the planning process can be expensive and risky.
For sites to have a higher chance of passing planning, landowners need to factor in approximately ten different kinds of constraints into their screening process, including distance from residential areas, conservation zones, national parks, radar masts and telecommunication links. ADAS has developed a proven screening tool to help identify suitable sites quickly and efficiently, therefore improving the likelihood of planning approval.
ADAS consultants have carried out over 400 in-depth, UK-wide assessments to identify sites that are more likely to pass the main planning obstacles. Any sites not already assessed by ADAS can be submitted for a free planning appraisal online http://www.re-solved.co.uk/Registration.aspx.
REsolved Renewables, part of the ADAS Group, has been specifically setup to offer a full lifecycle solution for wind energy, primarily focussing on the medium wind market. It offers a zero risk development partnership whereby it meets all project costs; applying for planning permission, installing and operating 500 KW turbines free of charge. Landowners will receive 15 per cent of the revenue generated from electricity sales and the FiT payment for 20 years (currently £30,000 - £60,000 per annum).
