Agronomist Pesticide Workshops planned for July 2010.

ADAS and VI-CIC are holding a series of agronomist meetings on pesticides and water quality in July 2010.

ADAS and VI-CIC are holding a series of agronomist meetings on pesticides and water quality in July, in East Anglia, West Midlands and Yorkshire on behalf of Natural England. The dates and venues are summarised below with details of  the objectives of each meeting and  the agenda.

Arable Agronomist Workshop

Date: 15th July 2010
Time: 9.30-1.30pm including lunch
Venue: British Trust for Ornithology, Thetford, IP24 2PU

Objectives:

• To update agronomists on pesticides in water and the latest information on pesticide handling
• To cover key issues of pesticides in water for the autumn period
• To ensure agronomists can give clear advice to their Farmers

Horticulture Agronomist Workshop

Date: 21st July 2010
Time: 4.30pm registration and refreshment, meeting 5.30-7.30pm
Venue: Ledbury Rugby Club, Ledbury Herefordshire, HR8 2LP

Objectives:

• To understand the pesticide and water protection issues in fruit, vegetable and
ornamental production.
• Review new research on future availability of pesticides and impact on profitability
• To discuss what steps can be taken to prevent pesticides reaching water and to
maximise grower and operator support for these measures

Please Note: There are two meetings at Ledbury Rugby Club on Wednesday 21 July – one aimed at arable agronomist and one at horticulture agronomists. Agronomists can attend both sessions if they work in both sectors.
