Pedigree Welsh Pig Survey

ADAS is supporting the Pedigree Welsh Pig Society (PWPS) in their quest to increase the sustainability of the Welsh pig breed.

On behalf of the Pedigree Welsh Pig Society (PWPS), ADAS is managing a project to build awareness of the considerable merits of the Welsh Pig breed.  The key project objective is to encourage more Welsh pigs being bred which will help secure the future of the breed.  By raising the profile of the PWPS, it is also hoped that new members will join.

ADAS understands that the Welsh Pig has potentially a wide role to play, not only as an important quality meat animal of known provenance for the more discerning customer but also this breed has the potential and temperament to be kept in more extensive and non-specialised buildings making it ideal for the smaller family farm. Good production performance and meat quality traits suggests clearly there is a place for the Welsh pig in commercial pig production systems featuring hybrid production.

Survey

To further develop our campaign we would like to gather information about people’s experiences, perceptions and general awareness of the pig breed at present.  If you have relevant experience we would be very grateful if you would complete the attached questionnaire and return it by the 10th October. Results will be reported in aggregate and individual responses will be treated strictly in confidence.
