ADAS experts help shape NVZ policy

Britain has successfully obtained a derogation from the EC Nitrates Directive allowing livestock farmers to have a manure nitrogen (N) loading rate of up to 250 kg/hectare, subject to annual registration. But how did such changes to European policy come about?

ADAS had a leading role in ensuring that a positive outcome was achieved for Britain’s grassland farmers.

ADAS has a proven track record in providing environmental solutions at European, national and local scales. Our understanding of environmental processes and issues, coupled with our scientific and technical expertise, has led to the development a range of policy support and advice tools.

In particular, ADAS has specialist expertise in the monitoring and evaluation of diffuse water pollution control options on individual holdings and at catchment scales; and of modelling the impacts and evaluating the cost-effectiveness of diffuse pollution policy at catchment and national scales.
