Pesticides in the UK – The 2010 report on the impacts and sustainable use of pesticides

The Pesticides Forum has published its latest annual report ‘Pesticides in the UK – the 2010 report on the impacts and sustainable use of pesticides’.

This report pulls together the work of the Pesticides Forum in 2010. It also covers progress under the six action plans of the UK Pesticides Strategy: human health; availability of products and techniques; water biodiversity; amateur use and amenity use.

This was another busy year in which the Pesticides Forum contributed to the consultation and subsequent discussion over the implementation of the new EU pesticide legislation.

James Clarke, the Chairman of the Forum said; “It is important that the Forum continues to discuss and offer its views on the UK approach to ensure that the many improvements and developments that have been introduced by both industry and Government since the inception of the Pesticides Forum are, where appropriate, retained and built upon. In this way, UK farmers and growers can continue to maintain their enviable forward-thinking reputation".

"I hope this report will help you to understand the many subjects we have covered at our meetings in 2010. It is relevant to anyone with an interest in both the impacts and sustainable use of plant protection products.”

To make the content more valuable there is a supporting PowerPoint presentation which contains all the data from this report and will provide a useful resource for those wishing to know more about pesticide use and impacts in the UK. An updated version of this should be available by the end of July.

The Pesticides Forum brings together 26 major stakeholder organisations concerned with the use, and the impacts resulting from the use of pesticides. Its membership includes agricultural, environmental and other interests and seeks to advise Government and industry on responsible pesticide use. The Forum meets three times a year.

The Report can be viewed on the Forum website:
